Small Things

Sometimes it is the smallest things that turn out to be very important. This drawing of Joni’s shows a strawberry plant. The strawberries are ripe and ready to eat. Yum! But look a little closer. Can you guess what part of this drawing was the hardest for Joni? The little tiny seeds! If you’ve got some strawberries in your refrigerator, go take a look at how the seeds grow on the outside of each fruit. Do you see how the strawberry has little indents for each seed? How can you draw the strawberry to show those little spots where the seeds grow? Joni spent a lot of time trying to figure it out, and she’s not sure she got it to look right.

Maybe she needed some more strawberries to study! It can be that way for us when we just can’t get something right and we don’t know why. We may just need to take some extra time to look at the littlest parts of what we’re working on, and make sure we’ve got it right. Because the little things matter!
