Deeply Pulled by God
On November 29, 2018— my 18th birthday, to be exact— I submitted my application to become an intern at Joni and Friends, an organization to which I felt God was pulling me. I had only volunteered at one Family Retreat, but there was just something about Joni and Friends that was blindingly different than any other organization I had ever seen. I quickly realized that God who working in my life was also working through this ministry in an overwhelming way – something that you have to experience to understand.
Every employee I met was deeply grounded in faith. Every one of my teammates was divinely chosen by God and had hearts ready to obey Him. We quickly developed wholesome friendships, providing accountability to one another.
Though our internship was short term, the things Joni and Friends entrusted us to do would last. The impact was a long term.
There were days of exhaustion and days of homesickness, but there was never any doubt that this was where the Lord wanted me to be. There was never any doubt in the work that the Lord was doing through the Joni and Friends Internship Program. There was only God— leading us where he wanted us to go. More people need to experience Him this way.
