Make me Clean

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and one of the most poignant things Jesus ever did was to wash his disciples’ feet. Picture it – the Lord on his hands and knees, humbling himself before the feet of his friends. No wonder Peter protested. But I’m not going to protest. Uh-uh. Maybe my paralyzed feet – feet, by the way, that I never walk on – are not actually dirty, but there are a lot of other parts in my life that need cleaning big time. That’s why I always sponge myself off with Bible verses like, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” There’s a great, heavyduty, detergent ttype word: “cleanse us.” To cleanse means to wash something through and through – like our souls. So, friend, if today you want God to wipe away the dust of the world from your heart, ask him to make you clean, clear through. Nothing will make your soul feel fresher.
