Enjoying God’s Gifts

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. You know, people often think that James chapter 1 speaks only about trials and tribulations. But tucked away, verse 17 is a fun thought. It says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights.” Think of it, friend. Every good time you have ever had in this world comes directly from God. Times you’ve laughed; times you’ve enjoyed yourself with friends.

Your Father in heaven is the origin of every single smile that’s ever crossed your face. And how about food? Like hot corn-on-the-cob with lots of butter, right? Or a juicy burger? I mean, God could have made the world in black and white, but he gave us lovely sunsets. And God wants us to come to him with a grateful spirit for all these good things, and much more in this life. Whether a Christ-centered friendship or a pistachio ice cream cone, remember, every gift comes from God.
