Union University Affiliated Internship: International Family Retreat, Peru (Lima)

May 4, 2026 - May 14, 2026

Theological training: Union University’s EDGE students will receive training on the biblical view of disability and a theology of suffering through the Joni and Friends Beyond Suffering course remotely prior to leaving through pre-trip meetings and online coursework.

Practical application: As a capstone to the internship, students will serve people living with disability through a Joni and Friends International Family Retreat.

Leadership development: Through their Joni and Friends internship, Union University students will hone servant-leadership skills, serving as the hands and feet of Jesus, meeting tangible needs through therapeutic intervention and education, and sharing the Gospel with those they serve.

The $3,100 cost for this outreach is all-inclusive; however, any pre-outreach vaccination requirements are the responsibility of each individual traveler. Joni and Friends will adhere to country protocols related to health and safety requirements. If Joni and Friends cancels the event we will refund or reallocate the donations in accordance with our current policies.

“”When I went to Peru, I was pushed out of my comfort zone and learned different things about myself. I learned about the strengths I have to contribute to the team and the things I am capable of.” – Ellie Brogdon, Union University Student
