Hardin Simmons University Affiliated Internship: Joni’s House Peru (Lima)

March 7, 2026 - March 19, 2026

Interns participating in the Hardin Simmons University Physician’s Assistant trip will receive theological training, personal mentorship, and hands-on experience in the mission field, preparing to live out Christ’s call on their lives. Every intern at Joni and Friends will use their gifts and skillsets to bring practical help and Gospel hope to people living with disabilities.

Interns will receive training on the biblical view of disability and a theology of suffering through the Joni and Friends Beyond Suffering course during their orientation before traveling to Peru. Beyond Suffering Beyond Suffering is the flagship curriculum of The Christian Institute on Disability at Joni and Friends. This core text aims to transform the way Christians view God’s Plan for disability and suffering through biblical education on the theology of suffering.
Interns will participate in multiple medical clinics, serving alongside our Joni’s House® team and in-country church partners. Throughout the experience, interns will provide hands-on help and Gospel hope to families living with disability, many of whom face extraordinary challenges from poverty to exclusion.
Peru, located in South America, is home to a section of Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu, an ancient Incan city high in the Andes mountains. Team members will have opportunities to worship “Peruvian style” and learn about the country’s unique culture from our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
