You’re Still Here
“If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.”
Psalm 119:92
I love the verse that says, “If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.” Now, God may not have kept you from affliction, but he has kept you from perishing in it. After all, you’re still here! And think of the many times you’ve staked your life on God’s Word and didn’t even realize it. Every morning he awakens you with grace, washes away your sins, and grants you salvation. You’ve got an escape from hell, a purpose for living, and a home in heaven.
He works everything for your good and grants you the honor of bearing his name and representing his character. Friend, if you can but remember these good things when you’re suffering, you won’t perish. Your soul won’t shrivel up and die. So, keep delighting in the Word of God and he will keep you from perishing until that bright, beautiful day when he takes you home.
Let’s Talk About Suffering: What Does it Mean to “Suffer Strong?”
Crystal Keating talks with Katherine Wolf, a trailblazer when it comes to disability and suffering. In 2008, at 26 years old, just 6 months after having a new baby boy, Katherine miraculously survived a catastrophic stroke. Now profoundly disabled, Katherine has learned to take joy in doing hard things in the good story God is writing in her life. Katherine and her husband Jay have used their second-chance lives to disrupt the myth that joy can only be found in a pain-free life.
