Welcome Jesus In

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

Revelation 3:20

I bet your home is decorated with sprigs of pine, twinkly lights; cookies on the table; carols are playing, and you open the front door and it’s, “Come on in” as your friends cross the threshold. Then? Your house comes ‘alive’ with joy— it’s the beauty of Christmas. And similarly, we say to Jesus, (the one who crossed the threshold of this planet to bring joy into our dark world); we say, “Oh, Jesus? Come on in!” Friend, the birth of Christ was an Advent, that is, a coming in…. And just as our Lord came from the outside into human history, so must he come into you and me. This season, open the door of your soul and invite Jesus to come deeper in; your heart will come alive with his joy. And ‘that’ will be the beauty of your Christmas.
