Tune Your Ears to Wisdom

“Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.”

Proverbs 2:2

I remember when I played the piano, my teacher had a tuning fork. When she would strike it, she could tell if her piano was out of tune. And if the piano resonated with the tuning fork? Everything was perfect pitch.

And I look at the Word of God as my tuning fork. It’ll let me know when my life is off-pitch, or when my behavior is dishonoring to God, or if my words in a conversation are too self-focused. Left to my own devices? Like an old piano, my life quickly goes off-key.

Left to yourself, you don’t even know when you are off-pitch. We don’t even realize that we are dishonoring God or damaging our souls. So the piano lesson here? Proverbs 2 says, “Tune your ears to wisdom.” And you’ll find that wisdom every day in the Word of God.
