Fallen leaves on the ground.

“And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.”

1 Thessalonians 5:14

When you look at the church at large, or even your own congregation, do you ever wonder how it could be so dysfunctional? Why is the body of Christ so full of timid people who never seem to get victory over sin or whose faith is weak? Or others who seem lazy and unengaged? Or those who are constantly needy?

You may think your church should be making better strides toward maturity – and so, it should – but, the body of Christ will always be populated with those who ramble behind. However, the Apostle Paul gives great advice for this in 1 Thessalonians 5:14: “Admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, and help the weak.” So, don’t criticize the church if it’s not perfect; be part of the solution. Admonish, encourage and help others. Strive to assist them to be all that they can be in Christ.

Chronic Illness and the Church

Jennifer Ji-Hye Ko is on the podcast to share about her relationship with the church as she lives with chronic conditions.
