The Same Calvary Grace
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you…and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.”
Ephesians 1:18-20
My friend Linda Marie struggles with rheumatoid arthritis. It’s a disability that erodes and thickens your joints, causing tremendous pain. But Linda deals with her chronic condition by looking to the cross. Every day she’s asking Jesus to give her the same grace, the same power and joy which sustained him when he carried his heavy cross up that long, painful road to Calvary. It happens when suffering forces Linda to her crippled knees at the foot of Jesus’ cross.
It is there she dies to fear and doubt which, in turn, opens the floodgates of heaven. And in exchange for Linda’s trust, God pours out victorious grace; he pours persevering power and enduring joy. So, do not look at your suffering as an impossible burden. The same grace, power and joy which strengthened Jesus under his cross, can bless you with strength today.
