The Lord Does Not Change
“I the Lord do not change.”
Malachi 3:6
I do not handle change well. Like, a reliable caregiver has to move out of state and I’m thinking, “Oh no, what am I going to do now? Where will I find help to get me up in the morning next week?!” Caregivers who can’t stay long or keep changing reveal how quickly I can become anxious (and that may be why God allows it; to show me I’m not trusting him).
And so, God always points me to Malachi 3 where he says, “I am the Lord, and I do not change.” And if God doesn’t change, neither does his care and compassion for me (and for you, too). He will always provide for our needs (often just in the nick of time, but even that strengthens our faith, right?). So, if everything around you is changing, remember: Jesus and his care for you will never change. And that’s such good news.
Trusting God Through Hardship
When Peter Coleman set out to follow God’s call to serve as a missionary in Nicaragua, he couldn’t imagine the journey ahead. But as he faced danger, uncertainty, and life-threatening illness, Peter learned to lean on the Lord in new ways.
