Scroll of Remembrance

A sunset sky reflecting off the ocean.

“Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name.”

Malachi 3:16

Does heaven really take note of every thought and word that honors Christ? When a stunning sunset makes you feel warmly of the Lord, or when a glorious hymn leaves you quietly breathless with praise, does heaven record it, as it were? Is our life in God really that specific? Read Malachi 3:16, and you’ll be stunned at the answer.

For when you simply esteem Jesus, or talk about him glowingly or gratefully, the Lord makes a note of it. Literally. Scripture says that our Savior hears us speak amongst ourselves about him, and then writes it down on his “scroll of remembrance.” Not only that, when we so much as meditate on the Lord or marvel at his name, that is written on his scroll, as well. So today, when you make much of Jesus, remember, he makes much of you, and takes much pleasure in it – so much he writes it down.
