“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”

Hebrews 12:1

I have never run a marathon, but they say the long stretch in the middle is sheer agony. Perhaps the Apostle Paul had this in mind when he wrote Hebrews 12: “Run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” If in your Christian life, you are in that grueling “middle stretch,” and you’re weary and in need of a fresh touch from the Lord – remember the angel who ministered to Elijah in 1 Kings; remember what he said to the bone-tired prophet: “This journey is too much for you.”

And then the angel gave Elijah food and the encouragement of his presence. And all of it revived Elijah. So who are the angels of mercy in your life? Today, let them know of your need. And when the journey is too much, the Lord will work through his people, placing his reviving grace upon you, over you and around you to strengthen you and encourage you for the rest of the race.
