Move Higher

“From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
Psalm 61:2
For some, flying thirty-five thousand feet above the earth in a quiet airplane may no longer seem like anything special. Even so, soaring over the mighty Rocky Mountains can remind you that many of the issues that have troubled and worried you really aren’t very big at all. It’s all about a new perspective.
That’s why I love David’s words in today’s Scripture: “From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” When the world presses in on us, when deadlines circle like vultures, when people’s expectations cut into our shoulders like a heavy backpack, we need a vantage point. We need to move higher and get above it all.
Our God is the Rock that is higher than you or me. Spend time with Christ the Rock. Climb the heights. Breathe the clear, fresh air. Gain a new perspective—His perspective—on your life.
Lord Jesus Christ, You are the great and mighty Rock in my life, my Strength, my Stability. I worship You today. I want to climb as high as I can into Your vast strength and beauty. I want to see my world, with all of its anxieties and pain, through Your eyes and with Your perspective.
