Meticulous Worship
Sometimes Old Testament commands that deal with sacrifices, offerings, new moons, and feasts sound almost too exact, too meticulous. But there’s a reason. You see, Israel’s neighbors were the kind of people who worshiped whoever they wanted and in whatever way they chose — it was all about “me.”
But that’s not how God wanted HIS people to worship him. So, he gave meticulous and demanding details. And a lesson for us? Look, we may not be required to mix exact portions of oil and flour or check the lunar calendar in our worship of God, but John chapter 4 says, “God’s worshipers must (we MUST) worship in Spirit and in truth.” So, when it comes to your worship to God, be exacting, be demanding. Be very sure you worship the Lord truthfully and in the spirit.
