Life Has Grinding Power

“Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this.”

2 Timothy 2:7

“Life has grinding power. It hones, breaks, and humbles you.” When I heard someone say that… I agreed. Look, all my years in this wheelchair – all of them – have been hard. Only a few times I’m without pain. But! When God wants to do an impossible task (like reach 1.3 billion disabled people for Christ), he will take an impossible person (like me) and he will sandblast sin out of your heart through the grinding power of suffering. And I ‘now’ know, all my afflictions have been for an impossible, yet wonderful task (being shaped to reach the world’s disabled for Christ). And for you? Second Timothy chapter 2 describes how God scrubs clean the vessels he wants to use. So, yield to life’s grinding power. When God sandblasts you, he’s making you useful for an impossible, glorious task.

Perseverance in Suffering

I will never forget when the seed idea for Joni and Friends was planted in my heart. It was a few years after my accident, and I was living on our family farm in Maryland…
