Learning to Wait

“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Psalm 27:14

I wait on the Lord for many things. In the morning, I wait for someone to get me out of bed, and if that helper gets sick or moves out of state, I wait for God to provide a new one. ‘And’ I wait for that glorious day when my wheelchair will be a thing of the past; I’ll dance with joy. But with pain and paralysis? (Ugh) “Waiting” is hard. It can feel interminably long. It’s why Psalm 27 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, take heart and wait for the Lord.” Right there, in between the bookends of saying, “wait for the Lord,” God encourages us to “be strong and take heart.” Don’t falter. Don’t stop believing. Don’t let weariness discourage you. Don’t let impatience rule the day. God’s timing is perfect, and his plan (here and in the next life) is always worth waiting for.
