Lead Your Heart
My heart is so stubborn. I constantly have to remind my heart ‘don’t you lead me in that direction…!’ It’s like what the old Puritan once wrote,
“Take your heart and lead it by the hand. Show it the kingdom of Christ and its glory. Say to your heart, ‘all this will your Lord bestow upon you. This is your inheritance. This crown is yours. These pleasures are yours. These beauties are yours. All things are yours, because you are Christ’s, and Christ is yours’.… Hold out a little longer, dear heart, and bear with the infirmities of your earthly tent for soon you shall rest from all your afflictions. Be up in doing! Run, strive, fight, and hold on, for you have a glorious prize ahead.”
And those words from Richard Baxter are good words for your heart today, too.
