Largeness Of Heart

“And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the seashore.”
1 Kings 4:29

COVID restricted many things, but it didn’t restrict my heart. Yes, I had to remain quarantined, but my heart kept overflowing with a large vision, a roomy life of prayer and a spacious willingness to embrace whatever challenges would come. I feel a little like Solomon who, when he came to the Lord with a trusting attitude – it says in the King James – “God gave him largeness of heart.” Little hearts are timid about trusting God with big, impossible things.

Little hearts have no capacity, no roominess. But “largeness of heart” means that you can rise above your petty irritations to embrace God with glad, willful thanks. Henry Jowett wisely said, “Large hearts always have room for something more.” So what is that “more” that God wants you to step into this week? Increase your soul’s capacity today for your large God and find out!
