Keep the Feast
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.”
Psalm 34:8
When you hear the word feast, I’m sure you think of… Thanksgiving! Platters of turkey, plates around the table overloaded with mashed potatoes, stuffing, steamed corn, green bean casserole and then… pumpkin pie with ice cream. It’s, well… it’s a “feast.” But recently, when our church celebrated communion, our pastor referred to it as “the Lord’s feast.” And what was laid before us? A bit of cracker and a tiny cup of juice. Quite a contrast with thanksgiving spread… But, oh, how sumptuous, rich and satisfying is that small meal; how fulfilling it is when we feed on Christ in our hearts with thanksgiving. We taste the Lord and see how good he really is. So, this Thanksgiving? Keep the feast and thank the Lord Jesus for his sumptuous, abundant gift of grace.
