Jesus Fully Human

“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.”

Colossians 2:9-10

Here’s a good verse for Christmas: Colossians 2:9 says, “In Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.” Really? Could this child we celebrate at Christmas not only have a body, but a fully human mind, heart and will? Yes! Jesus Christ has an infinite, divine mind ‘and’ a finite human mind. Jesus both knows all things as God, and does not know all things as man. That’s not a contradiction; it’s the glory of the God-man, Jesus.… He even has a human will; in Gethsemane he prays to his Father, “Not as I will, but as you will.” So, Jesus is like us in every respect except… for sin. When he took on our humanity in Bethlehem, he took it all the way to the cross. And ‘that’s’ what makes this Christmas so very Merry.
