Endurance
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had.”
Romans 15:5
When I agonize with deep pain, I often look up from my wheelchair and plead, “God, I don’t think I can do this. I really don’t. But you, with your grace, believe that I can. So, I’m going to trust you, rather than my feelings. I’m going to stand in opposition to my reason and emotions and believe that with Christ, I can do all things…even this.” I just described to you the path to perseverance.
It’s hard, but it grows smoother every day, this path; every time you fight through fear and doubt to embrace Jesus. Travel that path enough times, and you will be blessed with encouragement and sweet endurance, the best of divine gifts for any sufferer. So, my prayer for you? From Romans 15: “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude.” Walk that hard path today, knowing you can endure.
