Don’t Give Up

“And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, ‘My child, don’t make light of the LORD’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.'”

Hebrews 12:5

No one enjoys a hard trial, and many Christians wonder why God would dispense the toughest trials to his precious ones, like Mary and Martha. Jesus loved them dearly, yet he sent death and disappointment their way. But Hebrews 12 says, “Have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children?

He said, ‘My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.’” When it comes to God’s treasured saints experiencing hard trials, when it comes to the cutting and wounding of discipline, he tells us to remember that his encouragement is behind it all. And why should pain and anguish encourage us? Trials produce more fruit. So, be encouraged; do not give up if you are hurting today. God is after the fruit of perseverance, endurance, and so much more in your life.
