Comrades In Arms
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:12
When my friend Shannon struggles, whether with pain or against temptation, she’ll say to me, “Joni, quick, jump in my foxhole!” And it’s her way of saying, “Joni, I need help; I can’t do this alone; I need your prayers!” You know, every Christian should have that kind of a friend – a comrade-in-arms. ’Cause when you feel the enemy’s wrath – when his bullets are zinging past your head – you need someone in your foxhole to stand with you.
A Christian who can provide comfort and prayer, reminding you, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today,” as is said in Exodus. If you’re under spiritual assault, do not fight alone. Your enemy, the devil, is crafty. He has a better chance of winning, he knows, if he can separate you from Christian friends. So today, fight the battle with a believer. Invite them into your foxhole.
