Comfort Others

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Are you aware that God makes an investment in your life whenever you suffer pain or disappointment? God is investing his character into your life through your godly response, not to mention his gifts of perseverance and patience. And 2 Corinthians 1 shares more, for when you suffer, you can trust your God “who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” 

Helping others in their pain is God’s goal. Sinclair Ferguson said, “Every pain…every affliction is an investment of God’s providential grace and comfort in our lives and will pay a precious dividend in the lives of others in time as we are able to comfort them.” So, use the investment wisely and minister to others. Be a benediction to them. That is your charge today!
