At the Feet of Jesus
When I was a teenager, I remember I was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital for surgery. I was frightened at the idea of being paralyzed for the rest of my life. I was only a kid. Well, they pushed my gurney into the old hospital lobby and parked me at the foot of a big statue.
I looked up, breathless. It was a massive marble figure of Christ with outstretched arms. At its base were the words of Jesus from Matthew 11. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
That day, I was placed directly at the feet of Jesus. And I will never forget the warm embrace of his outstretched arms. I would replay that moment so many times, it became part of my healing. Friend, today picture yourself at the feet of Christ. Because he can lift your burden. Better yet, he’s strong enough to lift you.
