An Overflowing Spring

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

John 7:38

As wide and sprawling as a mighty reservoir might be, it’s water volume can still be easily measured. Now true, it’s massive, but it contains so many millions of gallons and no more. But God’s love is very different. It’s like a spring, for Jesus says in John 7:38, “Whoever believes in me…‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Who can measure the resources of a spring? It’s impossible, even if the spring is a small one.

The resources are always abundant, and they are endless. And this means that, time and again, you can bring your little need to the living spring and go away filled to overflowing – and it will not diminish the source of the living water one bit. Go to God and ask for a cup full of strength, but remember, there’s an ocean of God’s love that has yet to be decreased. And it can only be increased in you.
