A Different Answer

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2

When painful circumstances overwhelm us, we hope that God will do a Red Sea miracle, don’t we? We want him to take away the anguish, the sore back, the migraine or the irksome neighbors who leave trash on the curb. But “no” is not the answer you want from God, right? Rarely, though, does God physically deliver you from physical problems.

Instead, he cups your face, and he directs you to “fix your eyes on Jesus…the Perfecter of [your] faith.” God’s answer to your prayer is reflected through your faith. His deliverance and rescue and healing then happens through sustaining grace – grace that transforms your heart, rather than the situation.

So today, don’t be focusing on the problems; see Jesus as your deliverer, as your rescuer and even your healer. It’s the way the Lord of grace most often will answer your prayers.
