Eva in Uganda

While in Uganda, Eva went through our Beyond Suffering Curriculum and was trained on the biblical view of disability, a theology of suffering, and a practical application of serving people affected by disability. She also visited the Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, where she was able to share special needs resources with the teachers and staff.
Eva chose to serve with us because she wanted to know more about disability ministry and share the love of Jesus with people with special needs. And through her internship, she was able to do just that! When we asked what her experience was like, she shared:
“God is teaching me how to reach people with disabilities with the Gospel… I learned how to create awareness for disability in the community. By knowing this, I will educate people in my community about special needs through various ways such as preaching and sensitizing them about disability.”
Eva will soon graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Disability Studies and Special Needs Education from Africa Renewal University – she shared with us that she’d like to “create awareness to people with special needs with a slogan that says, ‘Disability is not inability.’” We praise God for Eva and her heart for the disability community!
