Make it Your Ambition

“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.”

2 Corinthians 5:9

There are a lot of ambitious people out there, and not all of it is good. But for the Christian, there is a kind of ambition that’s worth pursuing with all your heart. Second Corinthians 5, verse 9 says, “Make it your ambition to be pleasing to God.” It’s that simple. Find out what pleases God, and then…do it. Like, when the Spirit whispers, “Turn off this worthless TV show,” do it.

When you have a chance to memorize a couple of Scriptures, do it. When a conversation starts to get negative, change the subject. But there’s an even better way to please God. Make it your ambition to know Jesus. Spend time with him. Listen to what he says to you in his Word. Think deeply about what he did on the cross. And elevate your praise for all that he’s done for you. Make “that” your ambition, and God will be delighted.
