Understanding His Heart
I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and on a recent Wheels for the World outreach in Peru, many people with severe disabilities came to receive wheelchairs. Careen, one of our team members, was watching for a long while; and then, out of nowhere, she began to weep. A deep weeping, as if she were feeling God’s heart of compassion for them. A disabled woman being fitted for a wheelchair asked her, “Why are you crying?” And Careen replied, “Well, I asked God this morning to help me understand his heart as it concerns so much suffering, and I’m convinced these tears are for you because he loves you and knows yours pain.” They hugged, and that day that woman accepted Jesus. It meant Careen had a new sister in Christ, and so, both lives were touched. Visit joniandfriends.org to see how you, too, can show God’s heart in the midst of suffering on a Wheels for the World outreach.
