Children Like Angela Are Desperately Waiting For Your Help!
In a tiny village in Peru, little Angela was born with cerebral palsy and hydrocephalus. The hospital refused to give her medical care because her family had no money to pay for it. Her mother constantly feared that Angela would pass away while they were apart, yet their extreme poverty forced her mother to leave Angela alone during the day so she could get them food. Unable to do anything to care for or protect herself, Angela knew the true definition of isolation, vulnerability, and discrimination. And for way too long, the future looked utterly hopeless.
But when Angela was tenderly fitted into her new wheelchair at our Wheels for the World outreach, her mother’s fears were eliminated, and Angela was given the gifts of dignity and mobility! Now her mother can bring Angela with her whenever she leaves their home. No longer will Angela be left alone without protection or care.
Through the gift of a wheelchair, Angela has become an active part of her family and community.
Angela’s mother explained, “I’ve been carrying Angela in my arms since the moment she was born, and it was hard because she’s heavy. My back was already hurting. The wheelchair you sent has made my faith stronger, and I know God listens to our prayers! Now I can take Angela everywhere!”
All over the world, children with disabilities like Angela need wheelchairs today – but that necessity is financially impossible due to their unimaginable poverty. Their whole families need the hope of Jesus, and while COVID-19 disrupted life for all of us, it cannot and will not minimize the Gospel message – needed now more than ever before. That’s why the Good News of Christ is shared and the gift of a Bible is given with every wheelchair distributed.
