The Care of the Church
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and my friend Terry is the mother of Holly, a 21-year-old girl with autism. For years, Holly enjoyed her special education classes in public school, but now that she’s an adult, she’s no longer eligible for those classes. And because she’s 21, Holly cannot even join community-based programs. There’s simply no funding available for young adults with disabilities; only when they’re kids. But, Terry and a few special-needs moms started a recreational and job-skill training program for their disabled young adults. Problem is, they did not have a place to meet. That is when a local church stepped in and offered a couple of classrooms to this group. And now, not only do these families have a place to learn and grow, they are seeing firsthand that the local church truly cares. What a witness! So, get your church serving kids and young adults with disabilities. Find out how at joniandfriends.org.
