Emergency Room Lessons
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and not long ago, I went to the emergency room with breathing problems. Since the hospital didn’t have a bed available, I stayed in that ER for 40 hours. And I could hear behind the closed curtains of my alcove that there were others in emergency with desperate problems. One poor woman in the corner kept crying over and over, “God help me. God help me. God help me.” It was all the prodding we needed. My husband Ken and I knew right then, that while we waited in ER, we had a prayer assignment. And so, we prayed that God would help that woman in the corner, drawing her to His side, revealing to her His salvation. I wasn’t in the ER just to be treated for my medical problem. No, my husband and I were in the emergency room to be His ambassadors. So, the next time you are in a hospital, be sure to pray for the hurting people around you. It may very well be the reason God has you there.
