Ephesians 6 Counsel
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. Recently, I spent the afternoon with Jennifer, who suffered a stroke; she’s been working hard to recover use of her right hand and leg, but it’s been hard and Jennifer is depressed. As we talked that day, I brought up Ephesians 6:12. I said, “Jennifer, you and I do not struggle against the flesh and blood of your stroke and my spinal cord injury. No, we struggle against dark powers and principalities who would love nothing more than to keep people like you and me depressed and discouraged.”
And prayer, I told her, is what helps defeat those dark powers. That day, Jennifer resolved in a fresh new way to recognize her depression as a tactic of the enemy. Plus, she stepped up to a new level of praise, petition and prayer. If you are struggling with depression, please remember Ephesians chapter 6. It’s your battle plan to defeat your enemy.
