October, My Birthday Month!
I love this time of year — just look at this fall color on our crepe myrtle in the front yard! I also love October because I get to celebrate another amazing year of life! As a quadriplegic, I do not take the years for granted; I realize each one is a Spirit-sent gift. It’s why I’m praising the Lord for keeping me healthy and strong these 67 years. This year, I’m claiming Psalm 119:50 as my guide, “My comfort in suffering is this: Your promises renew my life.”
My disability often requires me to recite those promises, and so you will often hear me say out loud, “Lord, You promise that You are my ever-present help in trouble… You tell me that Your grace is more than sufficient for every need… Your Word assures that You will never leave me… You promise to be the One who will go out and fight for me… and you promise that You will be with me wherever I go.” It’s what I’m celebrating on October 15th – the faithfulness of God and His promises all these many years!
