Through It All

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada with a song that means a lot to me.

When chronic pain begins to wear me out, I’ve got a remedy. So does my friend, Gracie Rosenberger, who also lives with constant pain (her’s is a lot worse, but we won’t go there; all pain is hard). So what is our remedy? We sing. Almost always, we sing our hearts out, praising God for His promises. After all, Psalm 119 verse 50 says, “My comfort in suffering is this: His promises renew my life.” And one of the most comforting promises is found in Isaiah Chapter 43 where God says, “I am with you.” When you pass through raging rivers and storms of adversity and times of fiery trial, through it all, I am with you. At any time and at any point, God walks with us through the valley of the shadow of death. And for me, He’s with me through every valley in my disability. Some time ago, Gracie’s husband Peter recorded us singing an old favorite, “Through it All.” I offer this song to you today, for you may know someone who’s struggling. If you do, pass on these words.

I’ve been to lots of places, and I have seen so many of faces
there’s been times I felt so all alone
But in my lonely hours, yes, those precious lonely hours
Jesus lets me know that I am His own
Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus,
I’ve learned to trust in God.
Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.

I hope you knew the words to that, and I hope you were singing along with me and with Gracie on the chorus. If you’d like to hear the whole song and see the video that goes with it, I’ve posted it today on my radio page at joniandfriends.org. And it’s worth sharing with your Facebook friends.

Because life is hard, everyone needs encouragement. And the best remedy for every hardship, every ache and pain are songs of victory. And there’s nothing more soul-stirring, nothing that’ll brighten your path more, than to know that God is side-by-side with you as you walk through it all—through the valleys and through the dark places. Hebrews Chapter 13 tells us to encourage one another daily, so visit my radio page today at joniandfriends.org and share this wonderful song. No matter where you are, no matter what you’re going through, please learn that through it all, learn to depend upon His word.

Through it all, through it all, I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.
I’ve learned to depend upon His Word, His Word.

And thanks for listening today and again don’t forget to visit my radio page today at joniandfriends.org.
