You Will Not Be Swamped
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, with an encouragement from the Gospel of Mark, where the disciples are caught in a terrible storm. They are bone-tired, fatigued, and full of fear; honestly, their boat is about to really be swamped. And, oh, I can’t tell you how many times I have felt like that; and maybe you too feel like you’re going under; you’re going to sink. But the Gospel of Mark assures us that the strong currents of life will not swamp you, although at times it sure does feel like it. Plus, your Savior does not merely watch from a safe distance on a far shore. Uh, uh. Just when the waves are about to drown you, you find Him walking toward you. And look, He says to you, “It is I; do not be afraid.” Oh, friend, so then, do what the disciples did. Welcome God into your boat; into your frightening situation, and a force far stronger than any undercurrent will bear you swiftly to safety. That’s a promise.
