You Are The Light Of The World
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and in His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus says a remarkable thing. He looked directly at us and says in Matthew chapter 5, “You are the light of the world.” Now, it is true that elsewhere He says that He is the light of the world but here, to the people on that hillside (and to you), He says more than that. He tells us that we are the light of the world. You and me. When God inhabits your soul, He lights you from within. He strikes a match and within you, ignites a flame. And that light is not something that you have. It’s something that you are. Jesus says to you today, “You are the light of the world.” You do not merely have God’s light. Just as on a dark night when the moon comes up off the horizon and illumines everything? That’s you. So, friend, live up to who you are. Shine. Because you are God’s light in this dark, dark world.
