Working For The Lord

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and most people have no idea what it takes for me, a quadriplegic, to get up in the morning. It is a two-hour routine of bathing me, getting me dressed! And at night, it’s virtually the same routine, except in reverse. Day in and day out, it never varies—unless I become sick; and then it’s more complicated. Now, I’m not throwing a pity party. I am here to applaud my husband Ken for his faithful caregiving. And Ken gets his focus and energy from this verse in Colossians chapter 3: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” And then again, a little later it says, “It is the Lord Christ you are serving, not just others.” Ken remembers that when he takes care of me; he is serving God and that’s what keeps him moving forward. Friend, let that be your focus and energy today as you serve those you love.
