When Trials Are Hard
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and let me give you an encouraging word today – especially if you think there’s no point to your hardship. It comes from Isaiah 48:10 where God says, “I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake I do this.” Now, let that thought strengthen you. Because in ways that may be hard to understand, God has put His own great name on the line when it comes to the trials that test you. Because the way you respond, the way you react, is not only for your spiritual benefit. No, there’s something more glorious going on. God is saying to you, “Oh, child, I believe that with My grace, you will persevere through this difficult time. And I’m going to stake my reputation on it – because I know you love me and you desire to see me glorified.” Doesn’t that stir your heart? So, friend, keep persevering with a smile. God is staking His own good name on your response.
