In The Meantime
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and not long ago a fellow quadriplegic wrote to tell me that he was convinced Jesus is coming back within a year or two. “So, Joni,” he said, “you can relax; soon you’ll be healed!” I appreciate this man’s enthusiasm, but I replied to him that we’ve got lots and lots to do before Jesus returns. And rather than wait for healing, let’s get busy. In the meantime, we’ve got prayers to offer up, people with whom to share the Gospel, hurting ones to comfort, the church to strengthen, sin to confront; we’ve got hope to give doubting people, neighbors to reach for Christ, and so much more.
Oh, friend, like the Bible says, Jesus is not slow in coming back. No, He’s only waiting for us to finish His work on earth. So, until that marvelous day, my focus is pointing people to Christ. The time is short, friend, so let’s get to work. We’ve got lots to do!
