The Wrong Solution

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I’ve often felt a kinship with the paralyzed man who spent 38 years lying by the pool of Bethesda. But recently I realized that we have more in common than just a “long time” of paralysis. When Jesus asked this man if he wanted to get well, he responded, “Sir, I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. When I’m trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Now, what was his problem, is often our problem: he thought he knew the answer to his problem – you know, someone who would carry him to the water. But the answer he really needed was standing right in front of him – Jesus. He’s the answer! And that’s a reminder to you and me: Sometimes we look right past Jesus because we’re so focused on the solution we think we need.

So, friend, put your sights on Jesus; He is the first place to look for answers. I’m Joni Eareckson Tada.
