The Psalms

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and more than five decades of life in a wheelchair has taught me not to put on a happy face when I’m hurting. I’ve been there, done that, and it ain’t healthy. Sure, it’s easy to say that God is working together all things for good, but when your emotions are screaming at you otherwise, it is a real conflict. It’s why when you are hurting or feeling pain or disappointment, do what I do. Turn to the Psalms.

The Spirit inspired 150 of ‘um so that you can be honest before the Lord. The Psalms help you to say, “Yes, I believe that God is working all things together for good, but the reality is, things are painful right now and I am feeling miserable.” That is the beauty behind the book of Psalms. They are God’s way of inviting you to honestly express your worries and frustrations to him. So, pick up a Psalm, any Psalm, and tell God all that’s on your heart.
