The Grateful Dead

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. When I was a teenager, there was a popular hard-rock group called The Grateful Dead. I never really listened to their music; I know nothing about their songs, but I do know this – they got their title wrong; because the dead are not grateful. Why do I say that? Well, Jesus says in John chapter 11, “Everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” Isn’t that amazing? Christians do not die; believers do not experience death. Even when we “give up the ghost,” as it were, we are instantly, in a nanosecond, moving from one life into a better life. And we’re doing it in the blink of an eye without tasting death. True, your body may lay in a grave for a long time, but that’s not you. What comprises “you” is already safe in heaven. So today, give someone who is spiritually dead the Good News about Jesus. Because if they come to know Christ, they will be grateful.
