The Cure For Worry
I have found the strangest cure for worry. Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and as a quadriplegic still undergoing post-cancer treatment, I have battled no small amount of anxiety. Add in that that I’m reliant on a night-time breathing machine. Well, with so much uncertainty about my health, worry could easily fill my days. But instead I think about Matthew chapter 5. There, Jesus gives us the antidote against worry. And what is it? You consider the birds of the air. You think about the lilies of the field. And so my husband Ken and I spend time looking out to our back patio, enjoying the flowers, the birds, and two squirrels. It all helps me be relaxed and far less anxious. Friend, if you are battling worry and anxiety, find a place to enjoy the birds and the flowers. They are your antidote, Jesus says so in Matthew 5. And if you’d like more help, let us pray for you at jonianfriends.org.
