The Comfort Of God

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I know this for sure: God does not merely feel for you when you hurt; He doesn’t only empathize and understand. No, when God comforts you, He’s all about giving you courage to endure; strength to keep moving forward. Yes, His everlasting arms are underneath you, but according to Psalm 73, those same arms want to guide you up out of your pain. And He wants you to comfort others in the same way. I know when God encourages me in this wheelchair, it’s a signal. I need to pass His blessing on to someone else who’s hurting. Paul talks about that in 2 Corinthians when He writes, “[For God] comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” Oh, Friend, when God comforts you with His courage and strength, pass that courage on. Today, help a hurting friend in the same way that God has helped you.
