Supplication In This Time

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. The other evening, I stayed awake through the watches of the night – that’s actually from Psalm 119. ’Cause my mind kept replaying the disturbing images and sound bites from the evening news. The next morning when I wheeled into our kitchen, my Bible was open on the table and my eyes fell on Psalm 120. It read, “In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.” There at the kitchen table, I started crying out; I called out to the Lord on behalf of our nation and its broken people. When tragedy and injustice rule the day, God wants us to travail before the throne of God, plead for mercy and ask Jesus to intervene. This is no time for polite asking. Our nation is in crisis, so together let us rise up, cry out, and call for God to rescue our land and its people. Because Christ and Christ alone is our nation’s only hope.
