Stronger And Stronger
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada and because of my wheelchair, I find such comfort in the book of Job. This man suffered much and he struggled to hold onto his hope through all the dark questions, the pain, loss, and the truly bizarre suffering he went through. But right in the middle of the book, and right in the middle of chapter 17, between all those verses recounting his dreary existence, this ancient man says in verse 9, “Nevertheless,” he says with confidence, “the righteous will hold to their ways and those with clean hands will grow stronger and stronger.” Wow! What great advice for you if you are suffering today.
Friend, hold onto the way of God; keep your hands clean; in other words, keep obeying, keep persevering; hold on and keep enduring; keep trusting and pressing on. For as Job says, when you do, you will grow stronger and stronger. It’s a promise from Job.
